VET

Rosebank is committed to ensuring effective Vocational Education outcomes which complement the pursuit of academic excellence.

VET courses have been developed to provide students with the opportunity to gain credit towards their HSC, as well as gaining national vocational qualifications under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Accelerated Hospitality, Business Services and Information and Digital Technologies courses allow students to undertake vocational training to kick-start their career while remaining in a comprehensive and caring school environment.

TVET and School-based apprenticeships and traineeships (SBAT)

TVET courses are studied externally by senior students and provide a pathway to a broad range of careers. These courses contribute units towards the HSC and those identified as Board Developed courses may contribute to the ATAR calculation. Students achieve a Statement of Attainment or a full Certificate II or III as well as their HSC.

School-based apprenticeships and traineeships may be undertaken by students in a variety of industries to fast-track their careers. This pathway combines study at school with a TAFE course and work in the industry during Years 11 and 12. Participating students complete a traineeship or the first year of an apprenticeship alongside the HSC.

Careers Education is more than informing students about post-school options.

Rosebank’s Careers program equips students with the transition skills and personal confidence to embark on work and educational opportunities while at Rosebank. Our comprehensive approach to Careers Education is delivered on an individual and group basis in order to:

  • build student awareness of strengths and interests
  • plan for skill acquisition relevant to future careers
  • deliver assistance, inside and outside the classroom, on how to build post-school relationships and pathways

Our Careers team integrates with classroom teaching, beginning in Year 8, and ensures all students have the resources and guidance needed to make informed decisions about their next steps through:

  • timetabled Careers lessons focusing on the transition into post-secondary education and work
  • work experience
  • guest speakers from tertiary course providers and employment groups
  • one-on-one interviews

VET and TVET programs provide students with vocational courses, both on and off campus, giving them tangible skills and qualifications whilst completing their secondary education.
