Shaping Business And Economics Education
Forming Capable Contributors To Society
At Rosebank College, our educators inspire students not only through their classroom teaching, but through their leadership, scholarship and commitment to shaping education across New South Wales. In this edition, we celebrate two outstanding educators whose passion for Business and Economics extends well beyond Rosebank: Dorian Kipriotis, Dean of Learning and teacher of Business Studies and Economics and Linda Busetto, Economics, Business Studies, Commerce, Studies of Religion and Religious Education teacher and O'Connor House Coordinator.
Together, Linda and Dorian are helping students understand the complex world around them while influencing the future of Business and Economics education across the state.
For Linda, Economics has always been far more than a school subject. "Economics is lived every day," she explains. "Whether we are discussing inflation, interest rates, employment, international trade or government policy, Economics shapes the decisions we make and the world around us." Her passion lies in helping students interpret these forces through evidence, analysis and critical thinking, empowering them to make informed judgments based on data rather than opinion.
Linda's expertise is recognised throughout NSW. She is the NSW Independent Schools Economics Convenor, CSSA Economics Trial Examination Convenor, HSC Economics Coordinating Senior Marker, and a NESA Technical Advisory Group consultant for the new Economics syllabus. She also delivers professional learning for teachers across the state and develops Economics programs aligned to the updated syllabus.
Like Linda, Dorian believes education should equip students with the knowledge and habits of mind needed to thrive in an ever-changing world. As Dean of Learning, he works alongside teachers across the College to strengthen teaching practice, develop curriculum and foster a culture of continual improvement. "Learning is not simply about acquiring knowledge," Dorian says. "It is about developing the habits of mind, character and purpose that enable young people to flourish and contribute meaningfully to their communities."
After studying Business and Economics and working in the corporate sector, Dorian brings authentic industry experience into every lesson, helping students connect classroom learning with the realities of business, economics and leadership.
His influence also extends beyond Rosebank. Dorian recently presented at Independent Schools NSW on implementing the new Business Studies syllabus and its implications for the HSC. He also co-presented a keynote at the Catholic Schools NSW Curriculum Conference on culturally responsive curriculum design with Jennifer Jackson, Rosebank's Dean of Professional Learning and Culture.
United by a shared commitment to lifelong learning, Dorian and Linda exemplify Rosebank's mission to develop curious, capable and compassionate young people. Through their leadership, expertise and passion for education, they continue to inspire students, support colleagues and contribute to excellence in Business and Economics education across New South Wales.
